It's Easier to Think

I am Mark Meneses, the Miami breed.
I hum music with my words, and my fingers follow soon after.
Sometimes I whisper; sometimes I become a news anchor.
Creation, appreciation, & apprehension.
Watch my footprint gain depth in the sand.

Everything I post on here is original unless otherwise noted or cited, including poetry, images, and videos. Opinions, however, are all mine mine mine.

Live! now has the sickest bookmarks; my personal favorite is the Hendrix one. I’m going to miss working here when I move. Check out my work blog - some posts might look familiar.

I also want to put the word out there to all you Miamians that we have an instrument donation organization directed at repairing old or damaged instruments and giving them back to public schools and music programs; check out and donate to Music for Memories.

A Night of Poetry & Acoustic Music

I wanted to post a brief announcement here for an event that my workplace is holding, and I am hosting, and I’d like to invite all of you (the ones of you in Miami, anyway). It’s called Live! Poetry & Acoustic Show, an intimate night of poetry and acoustic music performed by some of the local talents right here in North Miami. The event starts at around 7:00PM and is open to everyone — anyone can come, hang out, eat, or perform (it is an open mic). The event page on Facebook has some more information. Bring your friends, poetry, guitars, and appetite!

I Have No Doctor’s Note, But…

In a whirlwind of finals, work, keeping up with my social life (or the ruins of it), and finals (yes, twice), I seemed to have lost track of my blog posts. Well, let me just pump some life back into this URL…

I will be back this week to update with some original pieces of prose, some poetry, and maybe an attempt or two at being what I like to call “ha-ha”, i.e. humorous. For now, though, allow me to recap some of the things going on in the past couple of weeks.

As it turns out, I’ve finally managed to save a reasonable amount of money to buy my new guitar this week. After that and some Christmas shopping, though, I’m sure my wallet is going to be starving. But here is a reintroduction to my soon-to-be baby.

In a more poetic key, two of my poems were accepted into the Spring issue of P’an Ku, my school’s literary magazine. (I’ll repost the link once the new issue is up, but check out the Fall issue that’s currently out in the meantime—it’s pretty good!) I’m eager to see how the page layouts are going to look like.

Now, on a personal level, I’d like to dedicate this part of the post to my girlfriend Haley and congratulate her on getting into Florida State University for the Summer term for musical theater! She’s going to be doing great things, so keep an ear and eye out. Or your entire face. Just keep your entire face out for her.

To whoever reads this blog: I’m sorry my posts have been dwindling, but that is soon to change as I promise to start posting more frequently. Look out for album reviews. Movie reviews. Book reviews. Personal writing pieces. And check out my workplace’s blog, where I also update and write about music and instruments: Live! Modern School of Music Blog.
